UPDATE 3-Bush tours site of wrecked Minnesota bridge

(Reuters) - MINNEAPOLIS, Aug 4 - Divers searched for bodies
in debris in the murky Mississippi on Saturday as President
George W. Bush toured the site of this week's deadly rush-hour
bridge collapse and promised quick federal help in rebuilding.

Bush got a bird's eye view of the ruined bridge in a
10-minute helicopter tour, then donned an orange hard hat and
wind-breaker to walk a section of the 40-year-old bridge on
foot as rain fell.

Dollar's Record-Setting Tumble Turns Into Boon for George Bush, Coca-Cola

(Bloomberg) -- Everyone from Nobel Prize laureates
to the world's biggest bond investor says the Bush administration
has reason to cheer the dollar's slide to historic lows.

The currency has lost 13.2 percent since January 2001, when
George W. Bush took office, the most under any president since at
least Gerald Ford, who left the White House in 1977. That's based
on a Federal Reserve index that tracks the dollar against the
currencies of 38 U.S. trading partners, including Germany, Japan
and Canada.

Black verdict closes chapter in fraud crackdown

(Reuters) - Speaking to reporters after the verdict was announced, Patrick J. Fitzgerald, the United States attorney here whose office brought the case against Black and three co-defendants, said the result sent a clear message to boardroom criminals that "if you take liberties and break the law with other people's money, there are going to be serious consequences."

The effort to stamp out corporate wrongdoing was born five years ago this week, when President George W. Bush signed an executive order establishing a multi-agency Corporate Fraud Task Force in the wake of multibillion-dollar scandals at Enron and WorldCom.

Supreme court rejects race as factor in school programs

(Reuters) - By a 5-4 vote on the last day of its term, the court's conservative majority struck down voluntary programs adopted in Seattle and Louisville, Kentucky, to attain racial diversity in public school classrooms.

The ruling added to a string of decisions this term in which President George W. Bush's two appointees -- Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito -- have shifted the court sharply to the right on divisive social issues like abortion.

U.S. Treasury Bill Rally Says Bush Is Doing `A Heck of a Job' With Economy

(Bloomberg) -- Among the markets that say President
George W. Bush is doing ``a heck of a job,'' the one he can take
the most satisfaction from is U.S. Treasury bills.

That's because the unexpected surge in tax receipts may
pare the budget deficit by 39 percent to $150 billion this
fiscal year, causing a relative scarcity of four-week, three-
month and six-month bills. The result is the biggest bull market
for Treasury bills since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11 drove
investors to the safety of the securities.
