UPDATE 1-Texas Roadhouse quarterly net income rises

(Reuters) - The company posted second-quarter earnings of $9.3 million,
or 12 cents a share, compared with $8.8 million, or 12 cents a
share, last year.




Total revenue was $181 million for the period, compared
with $146.7 million last year.

Chevron profit up with refining, beats view

(Reuters) - Excluding the $680 million gain on sale of Dynegy stock and a $160 million loss on debt redemption, the company would have posted earnings of about $2.37 a share. On that basis, the average forecast of Wall Street analysts was $2.30 a share, according to Reuters Estimates.




Total revenue in the quarter rose to $56.09 billion from $53.54 billion last year.

Build-A-Bear Workshop posts lower second-quarter profit

(Reuters) - Total revenue rose 7.2 percent to $100.4 million.




Analysts on average expected the company to earn 8 cents a
share, including stock-compensation expense but before other
exceptional items, on revenue of $104.3 million, according to
Reuters Estimates.

UPADTE 1-Asbury profit up despite weak retail sales

(Reuters) - The sixth-largest U.S. auto retailer by new vehicle sales
said second-quarter profit increased to $20.6 million, or 62
cents per share, from $19 million, or 56 cents per share, a
year earlier.




Total revenue stayed roughly flat at about $1.5 billion.

UPDATE 1-Western Union second-quarter earnings fall

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, July 24 - Western Union Co. , the world's largest payment transfer company, said on Tuesday second-quarter profit declined as the company faced higher expenses after its spin-off and revenue from domestic consumer money transfers fell.



Total revenue rose 8 percent as international money transfer revenue increased.

Foreign Buying of U.S. Assets Unexpectedly Surges to Record $126.1 Billion

(Bloomberg) -- Foreign buying of U.S. financial
assets unexpectedly climbed to a record in May as international
investors snapped up American stocks and corporate bonds.

Total holdings of equities, notes and bonds climbed a net
$126.1 billion, from $80.3 billion the previous month, the
Treasury said today in Washington. The demand for stocks and
bonds more than offset a second straight month of sales by China
of its holdings of Treasuries.

Total sees Shtokman investment at $4-5 bln -report

(Reuters) - Under the deal, Total will receive a 25 percent stake in the
company that will build and own the pipes rigs and other
infrastructure for the first phase of development of the
Shtokman field.

Total Began Production From Rosa Deepwater Oil Field Off Angola on June 18

(Bloomberg) -- Total SA, Europe's third-largest oil
company, said production started June 18 at its Rosa deep-water
oil field off the coast of Angola.

The Rosa field, which has proven and probable reserves of
370 million barrels, will keep production of the Girassol
platform at 250,000 barrels a day ``until early in the next
decade,'' Paris-based Total said today in an e-mailed statement.

European Stocks Advance in Quarter; Total, Linde, Swatch Pace the Gains

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks headed for a fourth
consecutive quarterly advance on speculation companies will keep
increasing profit and takeovers will lift shares.

Linde Group and BASF AG led chemical makers higher on
expectations they may merge. Swatch Group AG rallied after
Deutsche Bank AG recommended buying shares in the watchmaker
because revenue and profit margins may increase. Total SA and
Royal Dutch Shell Plc as oil climbed to a 10-month high.

Total still in talks on Venezuela, hopes deal on Tues

(Reuters) - On Monday, a government official told Reuters that Total,
Chevron Corp. , Norway's Statoil and Britain's
BP Plc planned to sign a nationalisation accord that
would keep them in the massive Orinoco oil reserve projects.

EDF Overtakes Total in Market Value; Stock Soars on Nuclear-Power Outlook

(Bloomberg) -- Electricite de France SA, Europe's
largest utility, overtook Total SA as the largest company traded
in euros after analysts raised their stock-price targets on
prospects for nuclear power.

EDF shares rose as much as 3.79 euros, or 5.1 percent, to a
record 77.89 euros in Paris. They traded at 77.62 euros at 11:09
a.m. local time. The shares have added 8.7 percent in the past
two days and 41 percent this year. The gains lifted EDF's market
valuation to 141 billion euros ($189 billion), exceeding Total,
Europe's third-largest oil company, for the first time.

French Stocks Advance, Paced By Total, Arcelor Mittal, Michelin, Areva

(Bloomberg) -- French stocks advanced, led by Total
SA, Arcelor Mittal and Electricite de France SA.

Shares of Michelin & Cie., the world's second-largest
tiremaker, gained as rubber futures tumbled.
