Malaysia's Proton says studying Egypt car assembly

(Reuters) - Malaysian state carmaker Proton Holdings is studying plans to assemble cars in Egypt to help expand export sales, managing director Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir said on Monday.

"So from Egypt -- we plan to use that as a base to enter the African continent and the Middle East," he said.

Quandts vehemently deny mulling sale of BMW shares

(Reuters) - Dealers earlier said shares in BMW had risen by 2.5 percent on rumors that the Quandts, who hold 46.6 percent in the company, were talking to investors from China and the Middle East about a potential sale.

U.S. image sinks but American goods keep selling

(Reuters) - Those figures run counter to the global image of America. A
47-country survey released in late June by the Pew Global
Attitudes Project documented wide anti-American sentiment since
the survey was launched in 2002 and found those attitudes
deepening this year.




The United States' favorable ratings declined in 26 of the
33 countries for which a comparison was available, with
negative views particularly strong in the Middle East.

Boeing set to unveil 787 amid order flurry

(Reuters) - European, Middle Eastern and Australian carriers trumpeted
new orders at various Boeing events in Seattle, as the U.S.
plane maker got ready to host 15,000 or so employees, customers
and suppliers at its nearby Everett, Washington, plant.




All are waiting for the first glimpse of the mid-sized,
long-range jetliner, which is the company's first all-new plane
in 12 years.

Saudi Aramco Raises Crude Oil Prices for Europe to Highest in Three Years

(Bloomberg) -- Saudi Aramco, the world's largest
state oil company, increased prices of most crude oil grades for
export to Europe to a three-year high as maintenance at North Sea
fields increased demand for Middle Eastern and Russian supplies.

The Dhahran, Saudi Arabia-based company raised prices for
shipments to Europe in August by between 40 cents and 70 cents a
barrel, Aramco said in an e-mailed statement late yesterday. The
oil producer also increased prices of Arab Medium and Arab Heavy
prices for shipment to Asia, and cut prices of all grades it
sells to the U.S. by 35 cents to 50 cents a barrel.

Persian Gulf Crude Oil Tanker Rates May Rise as Producers Reveal Programs

(Bloomberg) -- The cost of shipping Middle East
crude to Asia on supertankers may extend four days of gains as
oil-producing nations tell companies when to have vessels in
place to load at Persian Gulf ports.

Saudi Arabia, the world's biggest oil producer, Iran, and
the United Arab Emirates this week may release port-loading
schedules for July crude shipments, stoking demand for tankers,
said Per Mansson, a tanker broker for Nor Ocean Stockholm AB, in
an e-mailed note today.

Oil rises on thin US gasoline stocks, supply risks

(Reuters) - Oil prices edged up on Monday to extend last week's rally as dealers worried about supplies from Nigeria and the Middle East at a time of peak summer gasoline demand in the United States.

London Brent crude for August delivery, currently seen as more representative of the global market, rose 23 cents to $71.70 a barrel by 0153 GMT, after gaining 11 cents on Friday when it hit a 10-month high.

Shares in Dubai Decline, Led by Emaar; Saudi's Tadawul Rises: Gulf Stocks

(Bloomberg) -- Stocks in Dubai, the United Arab
Emirates, dropped for a second consecutive day, led by Emaar
Properties PJSC, the Middle East's largest publicly traded
property developer.

Saudi Arabia's Tadawul All Share Index advanced for the
first time in six trading sessions, paced by Samba Financial
Group, the second-largest listed bank in the kingdom.

Crude Oil Rises on Concern About U.S. Fuel Supplies, Iran's Nuclear Plans

(Bloomberg) -- Crude oil rose after a U.S. government
report showed refineries cut their operating rates, raising concern
fuel supplies may fall short of demand this summer.

U.S. refiners used 89.2 percent of their plant capacity last
week, the lowest since May 4 and the lowest rate in 15 years for
that time of year. Iran, the Middle East's second-largest producer
of crude, is advancing its nuclear research, which has been opposed
by the U.S. and allies.
