India's BSNL reconsiders GSM tender, seeks govt nod

(Reuters) - "We dwelt on all the options," Sinha said, but he declined
to give any further details.




In 2006, BSNL invited tenders for 45.5 million GSM lines,
and Ericsson and Nokia emerged as the two
lowest bidders at $107 and $176 per line respectively.

UPDATE 1-Sony Ericsson quarterly sales, profit rise

(Reuters) - The cell phone venture of Sweden's Ericsson and
Japan's Sony Corp. , known for higher-end music
phones based on its Walkman brand, said it gained market share
in the quarter by selling lower priced phones that widened its
potential customer base.




Its report came shortly after bigger rival Motorola Inc.
forecast a quarterly loss, blaming weak phone sales.

Ericsson Sells $1.6 Billion of Debt, First Sale in More Than Two Years

(Bloomberg) -- Ericsson AB, the world's largest
maker of mobile-network equipment, is issuing $1.6 billion of
bonds in its first sale of debt in more than two years.

The company is taking on new debt less than a week after
Standard & Poor's boosted Stockholm-based Ericsson's investment-
grade credit rating by two levels on rising demand for its
products. The issue doubles the amount of Ericsson's outstanding
bonds to the equivalent of $3.2 billion, according to data
compiled by Bloomberg.

Nordic Stocks Advance, Led by Statoil, Norsk; Mobile Phone Makers Climb

(Bloomberg) -- Nordic stocks advanced for a third
day, led by Statoil ASA and Norsk Hydro ASA, the region's biggest
oil and gas producers, as oil traded near a nine-month high.
Ericsson AB and Nokia Oyj also gained.

The Dow Jones Nordic 30 Index climbed 39.23, or 0.4 percent,
to 8953.08 at 9:06 a.m. in Stockholm, as all but five its members
rose.
