European Stocks Pare Declines; GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZeneca Shares Advance

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks pared declines as
shares of GlaxoSmithKline Plc and AstraZeneca Plc advanced.

Europe's Dow Jones Stoxx 600 Index was little changed at
389.03 at 12:30 p.m. in London, after losing as much as 0.9
percent. The Stoxx 50 added 0.1 percent, while the Euro Stoxx 50,
a measure for the euro region, fell 0.2 percent.

Shell, BP, Volkswagen Earnings, Germany's Ifo Index: European Week Ahead

(Bloomberg) -- Earnings from Royal Dutch Shell Plc and
BP Plc, Europe's largest oil companies, GlaxoSmithKline Plc, the
world's second-biggest drugmaker and DaimlerChrysler AG, the fifth-
largest carmaker in the world, may move stock markets next week.

Companies including Siemens AG, the biggest European
engineering company and Volkswagen AG, Europe's largest
carmaker, are also expected to report earnings.

U.K. Benchmark Index Falls, Paced by Lonmin, BHP Billiton; Barclays Gains

(Bloomberg) -- U.K. stocks fell for the first time
in three days, led by Lonmin Plc after the mining company said it
will delay the sale of as much as 90,000 ounces of platinum. BHP
Billiton Plc and Xstrata Plc slid as copper retreated.

Barclays Plc paced advancing shares after Royal Bank of
Scotland Plc sweetened its 71.1 billion euro ($98.1 billion)
offer for ABN Amro Holding NV. GlaxoSmithKline Plc and BT Group
Plc advanced after brokerages raised their recommendation for the
companies' shares.

U.K.'s FTSE 100 Gains for Third Day; Barclays, Vodafone Rise, Lonmin Falls

(Bloomberg) -- U.K. stocks rose for a third day, led
by Barclays Plc after Royal Bank of Scotland Plc sweetened its
71.1 billion-euro ($98.1 billion) offer for ABN Amro Holding NV.

GlaxoSmithKline Plc and BT Group Plc advanced after brokerages
raised their recommendation for the companies' shares. Vodafone
Group Plc climbed on speculation the company is the front-runner to
become Apple's Inc's regional partner for the iPhone.

European Chemical Stocks, ICI Advance; Merck KGaA, Pearson Pace Declines

(Bloomberg) -- European chemical stocks rallied
after Akzo Nobel NV made an offer for Imperial Chemical
Industries Plc. Shares of ICI surged 16 percent.

Merck KGaA dropped the most in two months before
GlaxoSmithKline Plc releases details on a lung-cancer vaccine.
Shares of Tullow Oil Plc surged to an all-time high after the
explorer said it discovered oil. Pearson Plc fell after the Wall
Street Journal said the company was in talks with General
Electric Co. to make a joint offer for Dow Jones & Co.

European Stocks Fall, Led by Rio Tinto, Telefonica, Merck KGaA; ICI Climbs

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks fell on speculation
gains last week were overdone given prospects for earnings growth.

Rio Tinto Group and Telefonica SM led declines by mining and
telephone stocks, which have outperformed the region so far this
quarter. Merck KGaA dropped the most in two months before
GlaxoSmithKline Plc releases details on a lung-cancer vaccine.
Imperial Chemical Industries Plc surged 16 percent, sending the
Dow Jones Stoxx 600 Chemicals Index to a record, after Akzo Nobel
NV made an offer for the company.

European Stocks May Rise; Daimler, BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto May Advance

(Bloomberg) -- European stocks may advance for a
second day, led by exporters and mining companies, after the
Federal Reserve said the world's largest economy is growing without
spurring inflation and copper prices gained in Asia.

DaimlerChysler AG and Barclays Plc will probably advance after
their U.S.-traded securities ended higher than the close in Europe.
BHP Billiton Ltd., the world's biggest mining company, and Rio Tinto
Group gained in Australia. GlaxoSmithKline Plc, the world's second-
largest drugmaker, may be active after a report about increasing
shareholder pressure to sell the consumer healthcare division.
